How do I customize the applications that I have downloaded on Alvea's Web Server ?
Alvea applications are fully customizable without programming : To test this and to see how to make the applications exactly fit your needs, just choose Setup in the main screen of the applications. You then are in the Setup screen, where you may change the way the documents are categorized, by creating new topics in each category. By clicking on `Setup Document', you may also change all the labels inside the forms, the titles, the error messages.
Where is the Help file for the Applications ? Where is the use and setup of the applications documented ?
It is included in each application. Just select `Using' in the main screen, in the navigator on the left. There you will find a detailed description about using the application, customizing it, setting up the user rights, etc.
How do I get access to the source code ?
The source code is included with the application starting at user bracket 26-50 for the Alvea Suite (ie. for US $ 19,000) and at user bracket 51-100 for a single Application (ie for US $ 9000). However, if you would like to purchase an application, let us say for 10 users, with the source code, no problem, just contact us for a quote at getinfo@#removethis#alvea.com.

UPGRADES, MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT |

Maintenance (Minor Upgrades)
Purchase of any of the Alvea products at the List Price includes 1 year FREE upgrades. If you buy with a special price you mayo add one year maintenance for 10% of the list price,
The customer who wants to continue his maintenance (i.e. minor upgrades) pays an annual fee which is equal to 10% of the list price.
The maintenance includes minor feature enhancements and fixes of possible bugs.
The maintenance does not include major upgrades nor customer support services.
These may be purchased separately.
Major Upgrades
New major upgrades include major feature enhancements, and/or take advantage of new features of new releases of Notes / Domino software.
An special upgrade price at a 50% discount of the List Price will be available to customers who have paid the annual maintenance fee.
Support : "Technical & Administration Support on Alvea Applications - ten incident pack".
This high level support is provided by a Senior Developer on an per incident basis. This is not a 24 hours support, but is provided by e-mail and phone (at european business hours), in whatever way is more convenient for you and us.
The price is US $ 2500.
Development Support - Assistance in the customization process
The assistance is the customization process is provided by a senior developer, by phone and by e-mail at european business hours on a per time basis for $ 800 a day. We will answer questions on the source code of the Alvea Products, on how to make changes and customize the software, and help on other topics as far as possible. However, for general development questions, the best is to buy the Lotus developer support. |

What is an user ?
An user is one person using an application. Whether the person uses the software from a Desktop, or from a Laptop, or via a browser, or both, or all three does not matter. It is still one person, and thus is counted as one user. The licences may not be shared concurrently.

What is a Help Desk occasional user ?
It is an user who is not member of the Help Desk technical staff. This applies to the case where employees of a company submit their own requests (or tickets) directly via the Help-Desk application (instead of calling the Help Desk staff by phone), and/or in the case where employees track the status of their request/ticket via the application.
What is an active user ?
It a technical person solving the issues/requests raised in the Help Desk application, or a secretary, or an assistant, or supervisor of the technical person.
In addition, any person using the application on a daily basis is counted as an active user too.
In the case of occasional end-users and of active users, all you have to do is to buy the licence for twice the number of active users, and this entitles you the right to have as many occasional end-users as you need.

Alvea Applications are currently available in English and in French.
But, what if I would like to work in Spanish, German or Swedish ?
This is easy. Alvea Applications have really been conceived in order
to let you easily change the language.
So here are the steps :
- How do I change the labels and document titles ?
In the main screen (main navigator), click on Setup.
(You need to have the [Setuplevel] role in the Access Control List
to do this. Ask you Notes / Domino Administrator if needed)
This opens the Setup Level. Then click on Setup Document.
Double click on the document to open it. Choose Edit.
The labels and document titles are listed on the left side.
Just enter the translated words on the right side.
- How do I change the Business Types List, the Topics List, the list of positions, etc. To summarize, how do I change the list of choices in the Combo Boxes ?
In the main screen (main navigator), click on Setup.
Click on the Business Types, for example. The list of Business Types
appears on the right. Just delete the English ones and create new ones
in your language.
- How do I change the validation and error messages ?
In the main screen (main navigator), click on Setup.
Then, open the Setup Document and edit it. Scroll down until the end of
the document. The validation and error messages are listed at the bottom
of the Setup Document. Just enter the translated messages.
All this can be done with no programming, just by using the powerful
Setup Features.
You may browse around and see that you have an almost fully localized
application.
There is just one thing you might want to do now :
- Translate the navigators.
1) If you do not have access to the source code, ask Alvea to do the
change for you. Price for making the custom navigators is US$ 1000, if
you provide us the translated text.
2) If you have access to the source code, it is easy to do it yourself. Just go to the design. Choose Navigators. Take a look at the images. You need to translate the text included in the images. Save the current images them by doing a
'print screen'. Then open the Windows Paint Program (Start->Accessories->
Paint) and select Paste. Now you should have the navigator image in the
Paint Program. Replace the English choices by the translated one. Select
the new Navigator Bitmap. Choose Copy. Switch to Notes. You should still
be in Navigator Design mode. Choose 'Create-> Graphic BackGround'.
Save your changes.
